Susan Sherring is leaving the Ottawa Sun

Susan Sherring has been a part of the _ ** Ottawa Sun ** _ since day one, when the paper launched in 1988. Now, she’s taking a buyout.

Sherring announced the news Thursday evening on Twitter.

It comes amid a grim financial picture at parent company Postmedia, which also publishes the _ ** Ottawa Citizen ** _ . Postmedia started offering buyouts in October with the goal of reducing its payroll by 20 per cent. It threatened more layoffs if that target is not met. In January, the company laid off 90 employees, including 12 at the _ ** Sun ** _ .

Postmedia has faced kickback after the _ ** Globe and Mail ** _ reported top executives received $2.3 million in bonuses, despite the company’s difficulties.
