Sultry weather to carry into next week

The weekend will only bring minimal relief from the hot and humid weather of recent days.

A heat warning from Environment Canada remains in effect for the region, calling for humidex values reaching 40 on Friday.

Cooler temperatures overnight will bring some relief for Saturday.

Environment Canada’s forecast for Ottawa:

Friday –  Sunny near noon then a mix of sun and cloud with 40 percent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40. High 31. Humidex 37. UV index 9 or very high.

Friday night – Partly cloudy. 40 percent chance of showers this evening with risk of a thunderstorm. Wind northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light this evening. Low 18.

Saturday – A mix of sun and cloud. 40 percent chance of showers in the afternoon with risk of a thunderstorm. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h in the afternoon. High 27. Humidex 33.

Sunday – Sunny. High 27.

Monday – A mix of sun and cloud with 30 percent chance of showers. High 29.

Tuesday – A mix of sun and cloud. High 27.

Wednesday – Sunny. High 29.

Thursday – A mix of sun and cloud. High 27.
