Summary: OC Transpo’s Regular Adult Monthly Pass is now one of the environmentally friendly options offered by the AIR MILES Reward Program.

OC Transpo’s Regular Adult Monthly Pass is now one of the environmentally friendly options offered by the AIR MILES Reward Program.
AIR MILES Collectors can now redeem 650 reward miles to obtain a Regular Adult Monthly Pass by visiting AIR MILES at www.airmiles.ca and logging on to the My Planet Rewards page. Along with more than 100 other environmentally responsible products available through the AIR MILES My Planet program, the selection of an OC Transpo pass gives Ottawa’s AIR MILES Collectors the opportunity to take public transit, leave their cars at home, and make a personal commitment to reducing their own carbon footprint.
“The City is always looking for new ways to promote transit in our community, understanding that getting cars off the road and people onto public transit results in a higher quality of life for everyone,” said Mayor Larry O’Brien. “In recognition of Car Free Day, we are proud to be partnering with AIR MILES to offer our riders a new way to pay for their passes.”
The AIR MILES Reward Program is Canada’s premier coalition loyalty program. Founded in 1992, it has more than 10 million active collector accounts, representing about two-thirds of all Canadian households. The AIR MILES Reward Program offers Collectors over 1,200 different leisure, entertainment, merchandise, travel and other lifestyle rewards by shopping for products and services at more than 100 brand-name Sponsors.
“We are very excited to include OC Transpo within our growing suite of environmentally responsible redemption items,” said Bryan Pearson, President and CEO, AIR MILES Reward program. “The My Planet program is all about encouraging AIR MILES collectors to think about their everyday options and how they can lessen their own impact on the environment and then provide them with the products, information and services to help them make those responsible choices. The addition of the OC Transpo Regular Adult Monthly Pass provides our Ottawa-area collectors with an alternative to using their own vehicles and keeps money in their pocket at the same time.”
AIR MILES Collectors redeeming their AIR MILES reward miles for a Regular Adult Monthly Pass will also have the option to select the month and quantity of passes they would like to receive. Each pass voucher must be accompanied by an OC Transpo photo ID, with the proper use of both explained on the back of the pass voucher.
“This initiative demonstrates OC Transpo’s ‘out of the box thinking’ when it comes to promoting transit,” said Transit Committee Chair, Councillor Alex Cullen. “The AIR MILES Reward Program gives new or infrequent riders the opportunity to try out transit for the first time or on a more regular basis. It’s also one more environmentally friendly option we’re providing commuters by encouraging them to leave their cars at home and take transit.”
