Residents are invited to join us in honouring our everyday heroes at the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum for this year’s Emergency Protective Services Day. Families can enjoy a variety of fun activities including a fire fighter skills competition, rescue demonstrations, auto extrication, antique and modern emergency vehicles and interactive family security games. The Ottawa Police will also provide families with Child Identification Kits. Get a chance to view By-Law Services’ and Ottawa Paramedic Services’ unique equipment and vehicles. Watch the parade of vintage and modern emergency vehicles as it winds its way from the Cumberland fire hall at noon, arriving at the museum at approximately 12:30 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to meet the Emergency Protective Services mascots, and have their picture taken in firefighting gear. You can also test your knowledge in the Fire Safety House, beat the heat by playing water games and enjoy a barbecue lunch. Finally, families can enjoy taking a ride on the scale model locomotive train operated by members of the Ottawa Valley Live Steamers and Model Engineers. Date: Sunday, July 12 Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Location: Cumberland Heritage Village Museum 2940 Old Montreal Road Admission: Adults: $7 Students and Seniors: $5 Family: $18 The 25-hectare Cumberland Heritage Village Museum interprets rural life in the 1920s and ‘30s. The living museum features 29 buildings including a fire hall, church, community hall railway station and working sawmill plus live farm animals.
