The 2006 world juniors attendance of 374,353 in Vancouver shattered the previous event record of 242,173, when the tournament was played in Halifax and Sydney, N.S., in 2003.
The
total tickets issued after 23 games for 2009 sits at 330,719, which is 97.8 per

three games to surpass Vancouver's record. With SBP Arena's
two-game capacity at 38,306 (19,153 per game) and the Civic Centre's at

between Canada and Russia at 7:30 p.m. at SBP Arena. The other two games today
have Sweden facing Slovakia at 3:30 p.m. in the first semifinal game, and
Finland meeting Kazakhstan in a relegation matchup at the Civic Centre at 6:30
p.m.
The 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship has also broken the single-game attendance record three times to date, with the current mark of 20,223 established during Canada`s 7-4 win over the United States on Dec. 31. There have also been five sellouts, all at SBP Arena.
Fewer than 1,000 tickets are available for both semifinal games and the bronze-medal contest.
