Summary: Public on sale of remaining Team Canada and medal-round tickets set for Saturday, Dec. 6

The host organizing committee for the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship announced today that fewer than 15,000 tickets are still available, including a limited number to see Team Canada and medal-round games. These tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. With less than three per cent of the 463,249 tickets still available, world junior-related games will account for more than 500,000 tickets sold, including the 50,000-plus sold for the pre-competition games.

TEAM 1200 mini-packages – All remaining 300-level tickets for Team Canada and semi-final games go on sale Saturday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. as part of the Team 1200 mini packages, starting at just $95. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.CapitalTickets.ca, by phone at 613-599-FANS (3267) or 1-877-788-FANS (3267), in person at The Sens Store at Rideau Centre and Place d’Orleans, any Ottawa Sports Experts location, the Centrepointe Theatre and at the SBP Arena box office.

Packages include tickets in the 100 level for Team Canada games at SBP arena and the 300-level for the gold-medal game; exclusive access to the Samsung Team Canada House at SBP Arena, lunch, dinner and a terrific party. These packages are the only opportunity to purchase 100-level tickets and gold-medal game tickets at SBP Arena. Samsung Hockey Canada House ticket packages can be purchased at www.CapitalTickets.ca.

The Metro Family Zone The Metro Family Zone two-game packages are available until Friday, Dec. 5. Each package includes a ticket to a Team Canada, quarter-final or semi-final game, along with a ticket to another game at SBP Arena. Metro Family Zone packages are $90, plus applicable charges.

More than 1,500 tickets have already been sold through Capital Tickets, the only authorized reseller of event tickets.

Tickets for Kids – Purchasers that are unable to use their tickets for a particular game can donate them to the Tickets for Kids Program. More than 500 tickets have already been donated to the program, and fans have until Friday, Dec. 5, to donate more to remain eligible for prizes. All tickets donated will be distributed to local minor hockey teams and children’s charities.

The 31-game schedule sees Canada open against the Czech Republic for the second year in a row on Friday, Dec. 26, at 7:30 p.m. The matinee game at SBP Arena will see the United States meet Germany at 3:30 p.m. The championship’s first game features Russia and Latvia at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 at the Civic Centre, which is also where the all-Scandinavian matchup between Finland and Sweden takes place later that day at 6:30 p.m.
