The host organizing committee for the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship announced today the remaining opportunities for businesses, families and fans in general to purchase tickets for the championship. Most of these opportunities are available through programs brought to fans by World Junior Championship sponsors.
In addition, the World Junior Championship Ticket Marketplace will offer purchasers of the 31- and 17-game gold, silver and bronze ticket packages an opportunity to resell tickets for games which they cannot attend.
Beginning Nov. 11, packages for the Samsung Hockey Canada House, presented by the Ottawa Citizen, will be made available to businesses and fans, starting at $250 per seat. Packages include tickets in the 100 and 300 levels at SBP Arena, exclusive access to the Samsung Team Canada House at SBP Arena, lunch, dinner and a great party. These packages are the only remaining championship tickets in the 100 level at SBP Arena. To purchase, or for details on these packages, visit CapitalTickets.ca/VIP.
The Metro Family Zone 2-game packages are available to fans starting Nov. 14. Each package includes a ticket to a Team Canada, quarter-final or semi-final game, along with a ticket to another game at SBP Arena. Metro Family Zone packages are $90 plus applicable charges. From Nov. 14 to 16, fans can visit any A&P or Loeb store in the Ottawa area and pick up a voucher with a promotional code, then visit CapitalTickets.ca to purchase these packages.
All remaining tickets for world junior games, including a limited number of Team 1200 two-game packs and individual tickets for select non-Team Canada games, will go on sale Dec. 6. Tickets will be available at CapitalTickets.ca, the SBP Arena box office and all Capital Tickets outlets in Ottawa and Gatineau.
Starting Nov. 17, world junior championship 31- and 17-game package holders will be able to offer tickets from their packages for resale to the general public on the World Junior Championship Ticket Marketplace. Package holders can go to www.capitaltickets.ca/WJCticketmarketplace for more information.
All gold, silver and bronze ticket packages, for a total of more than 440,000 tickets or 95 per cent of capacity, have been sold. The 31-game packages were sold out prior to the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic, and the remaining 3,500 17-game packages were picked up during the championship following Canada’s fourth consecutive gold-medal win on Jan. 5, 2008.
The 31-game schedule sees Canada open against the Czech Republic for the second year in a row on Friday, Dec. 26, at 7:30 p.m. The matinee game at SBP Arena will see the United States meet Germany at 3:30 p.m. The championship’s first game features Russia and Latvia at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 at the Civic Centre, which is also where the all-Scandinavian matchup between Finland and Sweden takes place later that day at 6:30 p.m.
