This link http://www.ottawa.ca/city_hall/annual_report/2007/index_en.html will take you to the City of Ottawa’s 2007 Annual Report, entitled Providing for Today, Planning for Tomorrow. The Annual Report provides details of the City’s financial performance over the past year and gives highlights of the progress that has been made towards achieving City Council’s goals for Ottawa residents and businesses. I am pleased with the progress that has occurred over the past twelve months and our commitment to service excellence remains ongoing.

The 2007 Annual Report highlights over 150 initiatives and accomplishments driven by the City’s Corporate Plan. Behind these services are dedicated City staff who work hard to deliver services to Ottawa residents and businesses. They maintain water pipes and wading pools, they drive buses, take care of children, seniors, and people in medical distress, they fight fires and deal with city-wide emergencies, they plow roads and clean streets, they plant trees and protect greenspace, and they work towards community integrity and design. Our employees make a difference in the lives of everyone who lives and works in Ottawa.

The Annual Report also includes performance measures, which help to gauge our progress towards the goals set out in the City Corporate Plan.  Over time, these quantitative measures provide a meaningful way for citizens, Council, City staff and other stakeholders to determine how well we are doing in our key priority areas. Some measures show where we are succeeding, while others highlight the need for improvement. The information provided in this Annual Report is important not only so we can assess our current performance but also to help staff refocus their efforts towards the delivery of service excellence to our citizens.

I hope you enjoy reading the report and I welcome your feedback. Please feel free to e-mail me your comments at: mailto:kent.kirkpatrick@ottawa.ca.

Sincerely,
