2 POSTED ON March 25, 2008 Dave Smith is at it again and this time he is using his talents and gavel to help build an inclusive Animal Assisted Support Services {AASS} community, website portal, and voluntary sub-sector; the first of its kind anywhere in the world. If you believe in the benefits of the human-animal bond and its ability to transform a life then you won’t want to miss this exciting Charity Benefit on April 24th at the Embassy West Hotel, 1400 Carling Avenue from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Your support will assist The Canadian Foundation for Animal-Assisted Support Services to ensure the sustainability of AASS that build the capabilities of individuals facing physical, intellectual, emotional, behavioral, developmental, social and spiritual challenges. The Foundation’s vision is to support the innovation, coordination, and integration of Animal-Assisted Support Services and its primary goals are: • To unite stakeholders to identify core values and common priorities to stimulate collaborative action in the spirit of cooperation and inclusiveness. • To inspire and ensure a consistent level of quality, safety, and End-user satisfaction. Equidae Stables is the home of The Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa Carleton Inc. where 50 riders with varying disabilities are unable to start their riding lessons due to the collapse of the snow covered arena roof on March 10th, 2008. The Canadian Foundation for Animal-Assisted Support Services will also be accepting checks payable to TROtt or cash donations to help rebuild the arena. Animal-Assisted Therapy, Guide, Assistance Dogs, and Therapeutic Riding will be showcased, along with community and team building workshops to spearhead the creation of this diverse community. Innovation Partners International Inc. will introduce Appreciative Inquiry {AI}, an innovative vehicle, to unveil opportunities, strengths, and achievements, to explore the promising possibilities of this new community, voluntary sub-sector, and website portal.
