 Members of the public are invited to spend Family Day admiring ice sculptures and skating on the Rideau Canal Skateway

The National Capital Commission (NCC) is pleased to announce that although the 30th edition of Winterlude comes to a close on Sunday, February 17, the ice sculptures in the Casino du Lac-Leamy Crystal Garden at Confederation Park will remain on display for Family Day, on Monday, February 18, 2008. Confederation Park, its services and concessions will remain open until 5 pm on Monday, February 18. 

 

After 5 pm, on Monday, February 18, Confederation Park will close to pedestrian traffic and the ice sculptures will be dismantled in the interest of public safety. The Park will reopen to pedestrians at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, February 19, but will be closed again on Wednesday, February 20, from 7 am to 3 pm to allow teardown of the infrastructure.

 

In addition, the Rideau Canal Skateway is presently open from the National Arts Centre to Dows Lake. On Monday, February 18, concessions along the Rideau Canal Skateway, as well as the Ice Café at Dows Lake will remain open from 10 am to 10 pm. The world's largest skating rink will remain open as long as weather permits.
