The National Capital Commission (NCC) would like to remind those planning to take part in Canada Day festivities of the street closures in effect in the Capital Region on July 1st, 2007. In order to make Canada Day an enjoyable and memorable event for all, the NCC recommends that motorists avoid the downtown core and that residents and visitors use the region's public transportation system instead. In addition to public transportation, the NCC encourages the public to take advantage of free shuttle bus services offered between official sites on Canada Day and, on June 29th and 30th, to LeBreton Flats Park where the Opera Under the Stars event will be held.

This inaugural event will feature renowned conductor Richard Bradshaw leading two free evenings of opera highlights with internationally-acclaimed Canadian artists, the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, and the Opera Lyra Ottawa Chorus.
The NCC will provide a free shuttle service from the park-and-ride at Tunney's Pasture, in Ottawa, and the Robert-Guertin arena, in Gatineau, directly to LeBreton Flats Park. The service provided by OC Transpo and Société de Transport de l'Outaouais (STO) will run from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Accessible transit is available upon request.
