NCC RESPONDS TO ANNOUNCEMENT OF MANDATE REVIEW PANEL

Today, the National Capital Commission (NCC) reconfirmed its commitment to fully cooperate with the government in its review of the NCC’s role and mandate as announced by the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister responsible for the National Capital Commission on April 13, 2006.

Marcel Beaudry, Chairman of the NCC, welcomed today’s announcement of the membership of the review panel which will be led by Chair Gilles Paquet, and will include members Barbara L. Farber and Guy Benoit.

“We look forward to working with these distinguished residents of the Capital Region and providing them with the information and assistance they need throughout the review process,” said Mr. Beaudry. “These individuals bring to the mandate review extensive experience in the private and public sectors as well as in-depth knowledge of corporate governance, of the important stakeholders of the Capital Region and of the role of the NCC.”

“Today’s announcement is an important step in the mandate review process and it is a concrete demonstration of the government’s commitment to ensure that the Commission’s mandate corresponds to today’s reality and the future needs of the Capital Region.”
