Summary: The National Capital Commission (NCC) expressed its commitment to fully cooperate with the government in its proposed review of the NCC’s role and mandate
The National Capital Commission (NCC) expressed its commitment to fully cooperate with the government in its proposed review of the NCC’s role and mandate as announced by the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister responsible for the National Capital Commission today.
Marcel Beaudry, Chairman of the NCC states that:
“The NCC is fully aware of the government’s interest in ensuring that the Commission’s mandate corresponds to today’s reality. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with Minister Cannon who can count on our full cooperation.
I am pleased that the Minister has recognized our key role in greatly improving the quality of life in the National Capital Region as well as ensuring that the region of Ottawa-Gatineau is one of the most beautiful capitals in the world.
As Chairman of an organization of more than 450 dedicated employees, I am extremely proud of our accomplishments over the past 14 years and those of our predecessors. Recent recognition as one of the top 100 employers in the nation and top 10 in the region, as well as positive reports from the Office of the Auditor General and the numerous awards obtained by the Commission over the years, are important reminders to the NCC team that their work is highly regarded and valued. This is further reinforced by recent survey results which clearly indicate that more than 80% of residents of Canada’s Capital Region feel that they benefit personally from the presence of the National Capital Commission.”
