Ottawa Visit Will Be One Of Last In Canada On The King's Farewell Tour
One
of the greatest traveling sports entertainment acts in the world will
be coming to Lynx Stadium on Sunday, July 17th. "The King and His
Court", a four-man professional softball team featuring legendary
pitcher Eddie Feigner will be on hand to play a group of Ottawa
celebrities before the Lynx 1:05 pm game against the Pawtucket Red Sox.
The celebrity matchup will start at 11:30 am with the gates at Lynx
Stadium opening at 11:00 am.
2005 marks the 60th year of
"The King and his Court", a group with a history comparable to that of
the Harlem Globetrotters. In 1999, Sports Illustrated rated the
"Court" in the Top Ten Favorite Teams of the 20th Century. Eddie
Feigner is the founding member of this group. Feigner became world
famous for his 104 mile-per-hour fastball, and in an exhibition game in
1967 he once struck out Major League legends Willie Mays, Willie
McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Maury Wills, Harmon Killebrew and Roberto
Clemente. Although retired from pitching now, Feigner has recorded more
than 900 no-hitters during his playing career.
"The King and
his Court" has been touring since the early 1940's and has played over
10,000 games in over 100 different countries! Entrance to see the "King
and his Court" will be a game ticket to the Lynx game against Pawtucket
on July 17th. For information on Lynx tickets, visit
www.ottawalynx.com or call 755-1166.
