The 37th annual Italian Week Festival will be held in Ottawa from June 9th to the 19th, 2011. Once again, the Italian community of Ottawa is preparing to proudly showcase its culture and heritage. This year's festival will be especially significant as 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. On October 25, 2010, the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario passed Bill 103 which proclaims the month of June in each year as Italian Heritage Month. Many exciting events are being planned for this most special celebration. Of the many highlights this year is the participation of the Sbandieratori e Musici dei 7 Rioni from Carpineto Romano, Italy. This 40 person group, attired in medieval costume, showcases the ancient art of flag throwing accompanied by trumpets and drums.

We can make this year's festival a most memorable one in the promotion of our rich Italian culture. So join us as we say, "Happy Birthday!" and "Viva l'Italia!"
Sincerely,
Claudio Pagani, President
