This weekend, Recycle Frog brings its precious metal recycling services to three locations across Ottawa at the Nepean Sportsplex, Hampton Inn and the Shenkman Arts Centre. Demand for these services is growing just as steadily as the price for precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum.
“We’re seeing increased interest in selling old, broken or unwanted gold and silver jewellery, coins and other items as people hear news of record high prices,” said Matthew MacQuarrie, President, Recycle Frog. “With more attention being given to rising commodity prices, this is becoming a more common transaction for people. Our customers are often surprised at how easy and financially rewarding it is.”
About 80 per cent of Recycle Frog’s transactions are with people getting rid of unwanted or broken gold and silver jewellery. Other items that are often sold include silver coins, sterling silver flatware or serving pieces, dental gold and investment bars.
“Our customers bring in a wide range of items, and some bring just a few pieces while others come with significantly large sums,” said MacQuarrie. “The common denominator among the majority of our customers is that they’re cleaning out their clutter and want a profitable, safe and secure way of doing so for those valuable items.”
A strong supporter of “urban mining,” Recycle Frog refines and recycles all material that it purchases. Only about 25 per cent of the world’s current demand for gold is met with recycled materials with the remainder coming from new mining, which takes an irrevocable toll on the earth. Recycling old gold or silver with Recycle Frog results in a payout for both the customer and a net benefit for the planet.
The public is invited to meet with Recycle Frog in person this weekend for a fast, no-cost, haggle-free material evaluation. Trained evaluation agents will be on site to determine the value of items and make a purchase offer. When customers accept, a cheque is issued on the spot.
