The Ottawa Senators' year-long commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues. The following is a look at the club's community schedule from Saturday, March 13, to Thursday, March 18.

Sens Foundation Telethon for Roger's House

The Sens Foundation, along with Rogers Sportsnet, is preparing for the seventh annual Roger's House Telethon presented by CN. The telethon will take place on Tuesday, March 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m. prior to the Battle of Ontario between the Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs on Rogers Sportsnet. Sponsors of the telethon will match all donations up to a total of $25,000.

Rob Faulds of Sportsnet and Leanne Cusack of CTV Ottawa will serve as hosts for the evening's event. During the broadcast, viewers will be introduced to some of the children and families who count on Roger's House to provide them with the best care possible during a difficult time.

Roger's House, the charity of choice of the Sens Foundation, provides a comprehensive pediatric respite and palliative care program with elements of outreach, residential hospice, pain and symptom management; grief and bereavement counselling and research. CN All-Canadian Awards

Cyril Leeder, president of Ottawa Senators Sports & Entertainment and co-chair of the CIS host organizing committee, will be attending the 2010 CN All-Canadian Awards evening. This year's event will be held at the Marriott Hotel (100 Kent Street, Ottawa) on Thursday, March 18, beginning at 7 p.m.

Awards distributed during the evening will include first and second team all-Canadians, the all-rookie team, coach, player, and rookie of the year, defensive player of the yeah and the Ken Shields Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in basketball, academics and community involvement

Spartacat appearances

Spartacat, the Senators' ambassador of fun, will be at Barnabe's Your Independent Grocer (80 Dufferin St, Perth, Ont.) from noon to 1 p.m. and Perth KIA (25 Dufferin St, Perth, Ont.) from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 13. Sparty will make two appearances on Sunday, March 14. The first will be at the 10th annual Tim Horton's Jamboree taking place at the Nick Smith Centre (77 James St, Arnprior, Ont.) from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. His second stop of the day will be at Wal-Mart (980 O'Brien Rd, Renfrew, Ont.) from noon to 1 p.m. Sparty's final appearance of the week will be on Thursday, March 18, at Bayshore Shopping Centre for the Little Sens Army from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. There will be a jersey colouring contest and an opportunity for fans to win tickets to see the Ottawa Senators in action.
