Senators Announce Teams for Sunday's Sens Skills Presented by Metro

Summary: The Ottawa Senators announced today the rosters for Team Red and Team Black for this year's Sens Skills competition, presented by Metro, which returns to Scotiabank Place on Sunday, Feb. 7.

 The Ottawa Senators announced today the rosters for Team Red and Team Black for this year's Sens Skills competition, presented by Metro, which returns to Scotiabank Place on Sunday, Feb. 7. The event, which is being held in conjunction with the Ottawa Citizen, Team 1200 radio and Rogers Television, will begin at 1 p.m., with doors opening at noon.
Team Red: Chris Phillips (captain), Chris Campoli, Shean Donovan, Mike Fisher, Alex Kovalev, Filip Kuba, Pascal Leclaire, Alexandre Picard, Ryan Shannon, Jason Spezza and Jesse Winchester
Team Black: Daniel Alfredsson (captain), Matt Carkner, Jonathan Cheechoo, Brian Elliott, Erik Karlsson, Chris Kelly, Milan Michalek, Chris Neil, Peter Regin, Jarkko Ruutu and Anton Volchenkov
Sens Skills sees the players demonstrating their hockey skills in the following categories:
- Bell puck control relay - observe players illustrating versatility in stickhandling
- Bridgestone fastest skater - see players showcasing their speed on skates
- Algonquin College hardest shot - witness the power of an NHL slap shot
- Danone accuracy shooting - find out who shoots with the most precision
- Team 1200 power-play challenge - watch as players execute the 3-on-1 to perfection
- Metro Shootout - who has the moves to be crowned king of the shootout?
The Senators will participate in a 15-minute warmup, from 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by the Sens Skills competition.
Fans will be welcomed to Scotiabank Place with free parking and a festive atmosphere, which will include balloonists and face painters.
On behalf of Metro, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association, the Senators will donate this year's net proceeds to the Easter Seals of Ottawa and the Sens Foundation through the NHLPA's Goals & Dreams Fund.
Over the past three years, more than 50,000 fans have attended Sens Skills presented by Metro, with the Senators donating more than $350,000 to local charities on behalf of their partners.
Earlier in the day, the Ottawa Senators and Bell will host the on-ice finals of the Skills First Challenge presented by Bell. Throughout the season, minor hockey teams have hosted sessions for the Skills First Challenge presented by Bell and submitted their scores to the Senators. Top performers have been invited to participate in the finals at Scotiabank Place; novice players will compete at 8 a.m., atom players will compete at 9:15 a.m. and peewee players will compete at 10:30 a.m. The top three winners from the atom and peewee sessions (house division and competitive division) will win the opportunity to skate alongside the Senators during Sens Skills later that afternoon. The winners from the novice sessions will be invited to participate in a Senators intermission activity during the March 6 home game against Toronto.
Tickets in the 100, 200 and 300level for Sens Skills presented by Metro are $15, $12.50 and $8, respectively, in advance to the general public. Tickets for groups of 20 or more may also be purchased; contact the Senators group sales department at 613-599-0210 or groups@ottawasenators.com for Sens Skills group benefits. Tickets will be $17.50, $14.50 and $10 respectively at the door on event day. Ticket prices include taxes, but exclude applicable convenience charges.
