It’s time to dust off your skates for another season of great winter fun. The SENS RINK of Dreams is now open for skating at Ottawa City Hall, Marion Dewar Plaza.

“I am pleased to officially open the third season of skating on the newly-named SENS RINK of Dreams,” said Mayor Jim Watson. “Last year, close to 60,000 residents enjoyed this gift from the Ottawa Senators Foundation. We are all looking forward to another busy, fun and safe skating season.”

“Skating on outdoor rinks is part of our culture and a great way to encourage physical activity for children and families in our community,” said Danielle Robinson, president and CEO, Ottawa Senators Foundation. “The SENS RINK program is our gift back ensuring that kids always have a place to play.”

The SENS RINK of Dreams will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (weather permitting) including holidays, and will remain open until the end of the skating season in March 2015. Residents should check for the green flag at the rink to make sure the rink is open, or check ottawa.ca for updates.

A heated changing facility is available daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.  Skaters need to bring their own skates as skate rental services are not available on site. Please note that certified multi-impact helmets are strongly recommended.

After skating on the state-of-the-art refrigerated ice rink, you can warm up inside Ottawa City Hall and visit the Barbara Ann Scott Gallery, Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame and the Karsh-Masson Gallery.  All are free of charge.

The SENS RINK of Dreams first opened on January 25, 2012. It was installed at Marion Dewar Plaza in a partnership between the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa Senators Foundation as part of the Foundation’s Sens Recreational Investments in Neighbourhoods for Kids (RINK) program. It operates annually from November to March, seven days a week, and serves as a community space during the spring and summer months.
