Rene Trim Arts & Crafts: a look ahead at June events.

Here’s a selection of upcoming art and craft events for the month of June:

Saturday 6 June from 9 am to 2 pm: “Sandy Hill Spring Fair”, an outdoor community art and crafts fair with live music, BBQ and kids’ activities. Rain or shine! 43 Blackburn Avenue (corner of Osgoode St.).  Free event

Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June: 416 Art Kruze (various locations along highway 416 corridor from Kemptville to Cardinal) . Meet the creative folks who make their art and crafts in such delightful communities as Spencerville, Burritt’s Rapids, Oxford Mills and Cardinal. Have a wonderful lunch at the Brigadoon Restaurant, ramble through the gardens at Rideau Woodland Ramble and shop for pottery, hand crafted furniture, home and garden decor, original art, jewellery and much more.  For more information check the 416 Art Kruze Facebook page Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June from 10 am to 4 pm daily:  6th Ottawa VEG FEST, continuing the fine tradition set out by Veg Fest’s founders, the National Capital Vegetarian Association.  Features local speakers, cooking demonstrations and a marketplace with up to 100 vendors. RA Centre, 2451 Riverside Drive, Ottawa. Admission by donation (you give what you can; proceeds support two local causes).

Sunday 7 June from noon to 5 pm: Stittsville Arts in the Park. Professional and amateur artists, writers, culinary specialists, musicians, and other creators will bring their work to Village Square Park in Stittsville for an afternoon of cultural appreciation and enjoyment.  Kids' acitivities, performances, and fundraising snack sales are sure to add to the fun.  Rain or shine! Free event.

Sunday 7 June from 2 pm to 6 pm: “Flaunt”, a premium fashion show charity event at Otto’s BMW Showroom, 660 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa. For more information visit flauntcanada.com . Tickets $35 Art in the Alley

June 12 to 14: “Art in the Alley”, featuring the work of Alison Fowler, Ross Rheaume, Dave Merritt, Jason Fournier and Andrew King. Alicat Art Studio, 1395B Wellington St. West. Please refer to Alicat’s website for opening hours. Free event.

June 13 from 10 am to 4 pm: “Heart, Home & Handmade”, a modern twist on the conventional craft fair! Carleton Field House, Colonel By Drive, Ottawa. Free event.

June 14 from 10 am to 3 pm: “Manmade” - Handmade Harvest’s first “male vendors only”  (or “dude-a-licious makers”) craft show will be held at the Mill Street Brew Pub (555 Wellington Street West, Ottawa). Admission $5.

June 20 from 10 am to 3 pm: Urban Craft will be featuring 50 indie & gourmet makers from Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal & beyond at the Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Avenue, Ottawa. Free event.

June 1 to 27: “Of Reverie”, a duo art exhibition featuring the work of Maia Weintrager and Leah Cosman will be held throughout the month of June at the Lorraine “Fritzi” Yale Gallery, located on the 2nd floor of the Great Canadian Theatre Company at 1233 Wellington (at Holland), Ottawa.

…and don’t forget the various farmers' markets in the area -  from Aylmer to North Gower, and Kanata to Cumberland (although the latter doesn’t start until June 13)
