Redblacks release player after sexual assault charges

The Ottawa Redblacks say they dropped defensive back Teague Sherman from the team because he has been charged with sexual assault.

The team announced Sherman’s release from the team over the weekend and confirmed on Wednesday the reason in a tweet.

The Canadian Press reported that Ottawa Police laid two charges of sexual assault against Sherman.

Sherman had played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2013 to 2016 before joining the Redblacks for the 2017 season.
