RE-BLOG: Unintentional modern art, created after removing existing graffiti


OttawaStart is on a short summer haitus this week, so we’re re-posting some of our favourite posts from the past few years.  This one was originally published on May 12, 2008, featuring some “found art” photographed by one of our favourite photobloggers, Robin Kelsey.

Robin Kelsey has some more of his great photos and commentary on the Watawa Life blog. This time it’s a post about what happens when the city paints over graffiti, like in the photo above.

“Meanwhile the city continues to erase graffiti from under bridges and overpasses. Sometimes the erasures have a mysterious artistic quality of their own, like monochromatic pseudo-Mondrians. These ones are in the Percy St. underpass. Read on for more pics…
