Ottawa Citizen

blogger Peter Simpson has a lot to say about the quality of Super Ex concerts . A sample:

Ottawa's "Super Ex," now on in Lansdowne Park, has long been known for an annual concert lineup that is - how to put it - not seen as cutting edge. Year after year it's a panoply of all-but-forgotten relics, occasionally with a few fresher bands tossed in, but not many truly memorable moments.

The shows by Michael Bolton, a saccharine performer who was big for a moment about 10 or 15 years ago, and Gregory Charles, Quebec’s much-promoted future king of fromage francais, have been cancelled. The official reason is “scheduling conflicts,” which is true in that the prospective audience members who organizers hoped would buy tickets were all scheduled to wash their hair those nights.
