Preston Street to close from Carling to Sidney from Sept. 15-20

Preston Street will be closed in both directions from Carling Avenue to Sidney Street from Saturday, September 15 until the morning of Thursday, September 20. Significant traffic impacts are expected. This closure is required for a private company to connect services for the Claridge ICON Building at the corner of Preston Street and Carling Avenue. Access will be maintained to all residences and local businesses, which remain open as usual.

 

Preston Street from Sidney Street to Beech Street will be open to local and business traffic only. Traffic will be rerouted along Beech Street to Rochester Street to Norman Street to Booth Street to Carling Avenue. All detours will be signed. Access to on-street public parking and parking lots in the area will be maintained.

 

OC Transpo Route 85 will detour in both directions, with alternate bus stop locations along the detour.

 

Route 85 Lees:

From Carling Avenue, continue on Carling Avenue, left on Booth Street, left on Norman Street, right on Rochester Street, left on Beech Street and then turn right on Preston Street to return to the regular route.

 

Route 85 Bayshore:

From Preston Street, the bus will turn left on Pamilla Street, right on Rochester Street and then turn right on Carling Avenue to return to the regular route.

Residents are advised to plan all trips well in advance as significant delays are expected during the closure. There are many other transportation options including OC Transpo, carpooling and other alternative forms of transportation to get around the city while this closure is in place.
