(Ottawa) – Once again there will be an enhanced police presence in the ByWard Market area this weekend to further build on the positive impact of officers patrolling the area on foot and in vehicles.
During the evenings of August 19th and 20th, a total of 36 Provincial Offence Notices were issued in ByWard Market area, the majority related to the Ontario Liquor Licence Act.
“Bar owners were cooperative and officers received great feedback from residents and visitors,” said Ottawa Police Supt. Mike Flanagan, with Patrol Directorate. “We plan to continue our increased presence for the next several weeks.”
Officers will be enforcing all offences under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Act and City Bylaws, as well as preventing violent crime and gang-related activity.
