Police arrest boy carrying bow and arrow and hatchet

(Ottawa) -Yesterday, the Ottawa Police Service arrested a young male in response to a 911 call regarding a young male carrying a bow and arrow walking down the street on Kennevale, Constable and Pickwick, and then he was seen going towards a police officer who was inside a cruiser.


A 14 year old male, from Ottawa, was arrested around 4:00pm after a standoff with a bow and arrow. He was also in possession of a hatchet. Two nearby schools went into secure mode.


The situation was deescalated with police tactical verbal commands.   The minor was arrested with no incident, and there were no injuries sustained by the youth and officers involved.


The 14 year old is charged with:

*       Possession of Weapons Dangerous x 2

*       Carry Concealed Weapon x 1

*       Assault with a weapon x 2


The West Criminal Investigation Unit is seeking further information from witnesses, especially those at scene who have filmed the incident.
