Paramedics get overloaded with incidents at Ottawa Bluesfest

Ottawa Paramedics and the Canadian Ski Patrol special events team were kept very busy at Bluesfest on Thursday night, over 200 patients were assessed and managed by the on-site medical team inside the Bluesfest fence., an additional 10 calls occurred in the immediate area surrounding the event.

Ottawa Paramedics added 4 additional staff after the pre-planned staffing became overwhelmed very early on in the evening.

Paramedics treated 19 patients and transported 10 to local hospitals with complaints ranging from sexual assault, trauma related to falls, alcohol and other intoxication ( Narcan was administered)

6 of the patients transported were minors and all were transported to CHEO
