#ottmusik show begins today on a phone line near you

Beginning today, whenever your call to 3-1-1 is placed on hold, you will hear the original music of Ottawa musicians. Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Diane Deans, Chair of the City’s Community and Protective Services Committee, revealed today the names of all 25 artists who have been selected to be part of the inaugural #ottmusik program.

A complete list of the artists, with background information on each, can be found on ottawa.ca.

“The depth and diversity of musical talent in Ottawa is impressive,” said Mayor Watson. “That’s why it’s important that we come up with programs like #ottmusik that give musicians an extra platform to reveal their talent to the world.”

Creating #ottmusik began with a call-to-artists in December 2014 and resulted in 217 musical submissions and an overwhelming response through social media.

“I’m excited about this program and I hope all Ottawa residents share that excitement,” said Councillor Deans. “I want to thank all the musicians who participated in this program and invite them to try again next year.”

Here are all the songs you will hear when you call 3-1-1
