** MUSICAL WALKING TOUR: ** I’m pretty excited to take part in " Polylectures “, a narrated musical walking tour through the architecture of downtown Ottawa, part of the Electric Fields festival. According to the website, _ 12 local composers and musical groups have translated key buildings on the walk into new pieces of music that together create a sonic portrait of the core of the capital. _ Download the tour free of charge from the Electric Fields website .

** MUSIC: ** Vancouver indie-rock sensations Mother Mother celebrate the release of their new album Eureka at the Bronson Centre Theatre on Thursday November 24.

** PARTY: ** Here’s a Friday night you’ll remember - or not!

First, Accenture’s Charity Jam 2.0 at Lago Bar, Dows Lake, 7:30pm-1:00am, with Blues Lady Maria Hawkins, Di-Version, WWWT (and I’m told rapper Peter Joynt may be there too!). Tickets, $20, to United Way Ottawa. Accenture is all about NextGen-ers! Later, Lobby Nightclub’s third anniversary (158 1/2 Rideau). VIP reception @ 10pm - doors open to public @ 11:30. Cover: $7. Performing, Dr Draw , the electronic wizard  who performed at the Canadian pavillion at EXpo in China last year.

** MUSIC: ** If you can find a ticket, you have to go see Hey Rosetta on Friday at the Bronson Centre. If Nickelback are everything that’s bad about Canadian rock, Hey Rosetta are everything that’s good. They’re a phenomenal live band where the music builds and swells and explodes. Check this song that always makes the hairs on my arms stand up.

** LITERARY: ** Jan Andrews, Friday, November 25, 56 Byward Market. Doors and sign up at 6:30, show at 7:15 with $8 cover- Once Upon A Slam, Who Wants To Be The Dress? Who am I? Who do I want to be? Who could I have been? Local storyteller/author Jan Andrews (feature performer ) asks such questions in a powerful personal story about gender, identity and transformation.As a storyteller, Jan is one of Canada’s premier performers, known for her artistic reach.

** SANTA’S BIG NIGHT: ** The biggest crowd for a Santa parade each year is in Orleans . This Saturday at six, more than 66 entries plus the Old Guy Himself will sparkle in lights on St Joseph Blvd, beginning at

Youville Drive to Prestone Drive (just past Place d’Orleans). Firefighters collect toys and cash along the route. (There are also Santa parades this weekend in Gatineau, Carleton Place, Stittsville , Rockland and several more - here’s a list .)

** CITY: ** At “ Postcards from Ottawa ” on Saturday from 7-10 p.m., you can hang out at the Raw Sugar Café and write letters to friends and family telling them how great Ottawa is. It’s all in good fun and part of Apartment613’s Support Local month.

** MUSTACHES: ** Mustachioed men and their less hairy loved ones are invited to sculpt an aerodynamic mo' and enter the running event of the season. This Sunday November 27th at 2:00pm, join Ottawa MoBros and MoSistas for a 10k run in beautiful downtown Barrhaven. The race is a one-of-a-kind 10k loop from PJ Quigley’s Bar and Grill to Greenfields pub and back again. The event will be followed by a MO RUNNING PARTY with prizes, food & drink… all in support of Movember. Sign up at PJ’s in advance or on the day of the run. Fee: $20 per person includes a T-shirt, pint and apres-run snacks.

** KIDS: ** If your kids love the Backyardigans , then you’ll want to take them to the Centrepointe Theatre this Sunday (3 shows in the afternoon, starting at 1pm).

** MUSIC: ** Canadian music goddess, Sarah Slean , will be gracing the stage of the NAC Studio on Tuesday, November 29, and Wednesday, November 30, for the release of her latest album, _ Land & Sea _ . These are general-admission shows, so get there early (doors open at 7:30 pm; show starts at 8). If you

go on the 30th, I’ll see you there: I’ll be the one close to the stage, with the puppy-dog eyes, spellbound!

** SLEIGH RIDES: ** Hazeldean Mall is offering free sleigh rides through the neighbourhood on Tuesday, November 29th between 6:30 and 8:30 pm. You can board the sleigh at the Zellers' Entrance - it’s first come first serve, so you might want to get there a bit early to get a spot!

** JAZZ: ** Trumpeter Craig Pedersen releases his jazz quartet’s first CD on Tuesday Nov. 29 at Club SAW in Arts Court. With musical influences ranging from Duke Ellington to the avant-garde, and some of Ottawa’s best improvisers in the group, it’s an evening we’re looking forward to. Guitarist Lucas Haneman opens. Tickets $7-$12.

" It’s on Tuesday November 29 at 6pm at the Fox and Feather Pub (283 Elgin Street).  Guests from the Canada Agriculture Museum moderates discussion between invited experts and the general public.

** FILM: ** I highly recommend watching The Artist , the French movie that was a

winner for Best Actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. The movie is intended as a homage to Hollywood’s Golden Age and will be shown on Wednesday, November 30, at 7:00 pm, as part of the 26th European Union Film Festival .
