** Wednesdsay-Sunday, September 4-8: Ottawa Folk Festival **

This year’s Ottawa Folk Festival takes place at Hog’s Back Park. Headliners this year include Gordon Lightfoot, City and Colour, Vampire Weekend, Emmylou Harris, Patti Smith and The Sheepdogs. **

** ** Thursday, September 5: Silvergun & Spleen Live at Ritual **

Silvergun &Spleen will be kicking off its Chasing the Light Tour with a hometown show. The four-piece alternative rock band will be touring across the country in an effort to promote their latest EP Semi Truck. For the occasion they’ll be performing live with The Lionyls, The Superlative and The Ginger Fox Band. Support local! **

** ** Thursday-Sunday, September 5-8: Festival Outaouais Émergent (FOÉ) **

The 6th edition of the Festival Outaouais Emergent, aka the FOÉ is taking place this week until Sunday, September 8. This inclusive annual festival continues to celebrate local emerging artists and to feature a variety of artistic disciplines. On top of music, art, and film, it now includes humor, theatre and slam poetry. This year’s festivities will take place at many locations around the Vieux-Hull neighborhood of Gatineau and at outdoor sites. Music headliners include Misteur Valaire, Alaclair Ensemble, We Are Wolves and many more.

** ** Saturday, September 7: Super Centretown Community Garage Sale ** [

](http://www.ottawastart.com/story/20605.php) Centretown residents will be selling their old stuff at this community garage sale. Vendors are encouraged to donate 10% of their proceeds to the Centretown Community Health Centre, a non-profit organization providing health services to Centretown. Organizers hope to make it an annual event. Maybe one day it will even rival the Great Glebe Garage Sale. Meanwhile down the road in Old Ottawa South, there’s another big sale. The Old Ottawa South Annual Porch Sale & OSCA 35th Anniversary happens on Saturday as well.

** ** Saturday, September 7: Last night for Mosaika on Parliament Hill **

The nightly multimedia show on Mosaika packs it in for the season after Saturday night’s performance. The show starts at 9pm.  It’s free.

** ** Wednesday, September 11: 3rd Annual Ottawa Zine Off **

8pm at Pressed, 750 Gladstone. Zines are quirky, indy home-made copied magazines. Lots of poets, artists & general dogsbodies shall be exchanging their wares. Make your own zine in 15-25 copies & bring it to the event or just go to chat & ogle. Have one of Pressed fabulous sandwiches.

** ** Wednesday, September 11 (until Sunday, September 15): Electric Fields Festival **

Electric Fields, presented by Artengine, is performance art with a technological twist. This year, the city provides the settings for participatory music, media art and creative technology, in keeping with the festival’s theme “We Make The City! We Are The City!” On Wednesday, you can collaborate with artists to add your favourite Ottawa location to a crowdsourced story map, have a musical experience on the Alexandra Bridge, or create and display your own light-powered message using your bicycle. **
