** ** Saturday, March 22: Roddy Ellias Trio CD Launch at GigSpace **

In a five-decade career, Ottawa guitarist Roddy Ellias has performed with many jazz greats, playing everything from jazz originals to perfect renditions of standards to chamber music. But he never rests on his laurels: just in 2013, he was named a Jazz Hero by the Jazz Journalists Association, and organized a major international guitar convention. And, most importantly to local jazz fans, he finally recorded a CD with his trio. All his own music, it’s melodic, multi-layered, and full of textures and resonances; the audience at his Ottawa trio concert last fall thoroughly enjoyed an advance listen to the music. He launches the CD with his trio this Saturday at GigSpace.
