** ** Saturday, June 7: Bill Coon and Paul Rushka at GigSpace **

Bill Coon was named Guitarist of the Year in the 2009 National Jazz Awards. He’s a mainstay of the Vancouver jazz scene, accompanying vocalists, arranging big bands, playing in classic jazz trios, and more. But that means he doesn’t get out east very often – or often appear with his longtime musical friend, Montreal bassist Paul Rushka. This Saturday, the two will present an evening of music they love, mixing jazz standards with compositions of Canadian jazz greats, in an unadorned duo setting of guitar and acoustic bass. Expect an intimate concert of beautiful music.
