** It’s another busy event week in Ottawa. ** The biggest events are the Ottawa Gatineau Auto Show runs from March 22-25 at the new Ottawa Convention Centre and the Ottawa Home and Garden Show is at the CE centre from March 22-25. Here are some more suggestions from our contributors:

** FILM: ** The Reel Food Film Festival takes place this Thursday and next. This week’s screening on Thursday, March 22 is ** To Make A Farm ** , which explores the lives of five young people who have decided to become small-scale farmers. They face daily challenges and set-backs, but their work and optimism inspires hope for the future. An intimate and practical exploration of farming and local food. Nowruz marks the first day of Spring and the beginning of the year in the Iranian calendar. The celebrations will be taking place on Saturday, March 24 starting at 5pm in the Carleton University Senate Room, 608 Robertson Hall.

** SENS MILE CHARITY CHILI COOK OFF: ** Sunday on Elgin Street, 11am-4pm.  The spring weather will be great for the road hockey tournament, live bands including the Brothers Dube, the chili competition including public tasting, judges: Mayor Watson, Fire Chief deHooge, ex-Sen Jason York, the Citizen’s Ron Eade. For the kids, face p[ainting, bouncy castle, free hot chocolate. Celebrity host is Liane Laing. Grand finale at Woody’s Pub. Fundraiser for the Sens Foundation partnership with Max Keeping Foundation to assist low income children to access recreation and sports.

** MUSIC: ** I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately.It’s one of those tunes that makes me do air guitar in slow motion. The band is called In Media Res and they will be in town on Sunday at the Raw Sugar Café. This should be a pretty intense show in an intimate venue.

** A GLEEFUL WISH: ** Another group of the Algonquin event management students stage this one on Monday, March 26, at A.Y. Jackson High School. Ottawa high school glee clubs compete to be the city’s favourite. There will be slushesi, treats, games and photo ops. Ticket price is $20 and 100% goes to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
