Ottawa's hosting the 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship

Hockey Canada announced today that Ottawa will host the 2013 IIHF World Women’s Championship. Ottawa’s completing the full circle on this one – the last time we hosted the event was in its inaugural year, way back in 1990. Twenty-one games will be played over eight days at Scotiabank Place and the Nepean Sportsplex.

Ottawa fans love women’s hockey. On January 1, 2010, 16,347 fans watched Canada and the U.S. play at Scotiabank Place, setting an attendance record.  Along with the 2013 championships, Ottawa will also be hosting 2013 Ontario Women’s Hockey Association provincial championships, brining 500 teams and over 11,000 players to the city.
