Ottawa weathers first heat warning of the season

Temperatures are expected to hit the low 30s under the first heat warning of the season for Ottawa, Environment Canada said.

“Temperatures are expected to reach 31 degrees (Sunday) and 32 degrees on Monday with overnight lows near 20 degrees, providing little relief from the heat during this timeframe,” the service wrote in the warning. “Temperatures are expected to fall below heat warning criteria by the middle of this week.”

Tuesday’s was forecast at 28 and the temperature was expected to drop to 23 by Wednesday.

Ottawa Public Health recommended limiting outdoor activities and drinking lots of water to prevent dehydration. Time spent outdoors should especially be limited between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. as those are generally the warmest times of the day.
