Ottawa Public Library to launch self-serve DVD hold pick-up at the Main branch

As part of the Ottawa Public Library’s ongoing work to better serve its customers, a self-serve DVD holds dispenser will be available at the Main branch on

October 22, 2014

.

The DVD Holds Dispenser will enable customers to retrieve their DVD holds independently. DVD holds were previously shelved behind the service counter and customers had to wait in line in order to retrieve them.

The dispenser is configured as an RFID self checkout station with the ability to retrieve and check out up to five discs at a time.

“This new feature offers customers the convenience of getting their holds at their leisure,” said Councillor Jan Harder, Chair of the Ottawa Public Library Board. “It will save time for customers and staff, and streamline the process of picking up DVD holds. All other holds in book or CD format are self-serve – it makes good sense that DVDs be no different.”

As with OPL’s policy with regards to holds, DVD holds in the dispenser will be held for seven days.
