OTTAWA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2015 Announces Programming, New Awards, and Jury Members

** , OIFF will run 12 programming slots with a combination of over 50 projects in digital web series, feature length and short narrative films, documentaries, and music videos.

This year as part of its festival programming, OIFF will present feature film projects from fifteen countries to be screened in competition at the elegant Cineplex Cinemas Lansdowne and VIP theatres at Lansdowne Park in the Glebe.

** Highlights this year include: ** the Canadian premiere of JACKIE BOY (Canada)  by Ottawa native and Director Cody Campanale; WILDLIKE (USA) starring Bruce Greenwood, directed by Frank Green and;  Zachary Quinto in the film THE FUTURE PERFECT (Canada) directed by Nick Citton.

In addition to Canada and the United States, OIFF will screen projects from the UK, South Korea, Chile, Norway, Ethiopia, Spain, Finland, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, The Netherlands and France.

New to this year’s festival are awards for Best Film Score and Best VFX and Technical Achievement in Post-Production.  Awards packages will include monetary, software, consultation and telecom packages.

OIFF is pleased to have leaders in the Canadian film and music industry serve on the jury for OIFF 2015.

Louis Calabro is the Director of Awards & Special Events at the Academy of Canadian Film and Television where he is responsible for supervising and producing elements surrounding the Canadian Screen Awards (formerly the Genie and Gemini Awards).

Stuart Watkins is an Ottawa-based musician who toured for 6 years with the Grammy -nominated East Village Opera Company (NYC).  On bass, he’s backed up such legends as Aretha Franklin, Paul Anka and Kenny G, and artists like  Eric Benet, Charice, Jann Arden, Johnny Reid, and Joel Plaskett, to name a few.

Alex Brundige is a graduate from Western University with a Masters in Film Studies. Hepossesses a diverse knowledge of film theory and film production and is an enthusiastic film festival attendee.

Brundige, who also serves as the official OIFF programmer for the 2015 showcase, has this to say about OIFF 2015:

“I’m incredibly proud of the sheer quality and diversity that we have in this year’s line-up. The insight and creativity of these films and filmmakers is truly exceptional. I really believe that there is something for everyone in our 2015 program.”
