Ottawa Fringe closes on record-breaking high

** ** Final box office tallies are expected to confirm record-breaking numbers at the Ottawa Fringe Festival:

40 sold out performances

Artists paid more than $107,000

Attendance over 13,500

Two world premieres by Ottawa artists sold 100 per cent of their available tickets during their six-show runs. Plus their Metro Best of Fest encore performances sold out on closing night. Those are _ I think my boyfriend should have an accent _ by Emily Pearlman as well as _ The Elephant Girls _ by Margo MacDonald.

MacDonald’s play has been held over for two additional performances at Arts Court Theatre, July 9 and 10. On closing night, _ The Elephant Girls _ was awarded with the Critics’ Pick Award as well as the Fringe Festival’s Outstanding Production award.

New Yorker Martin Dockery’s _ Bursting Into Flames _ makes the third play to have sold 100% of its Ottawa Fringe run.
