Ottawa-area fundraisers for Japan

Here’s a listing of events and fundraisers to help Japan after the earthquake and tsunami last week.  If you’re hosting an event, please add the info to the comments below, or send us a note at feedback@ottawastart.com

** From the Ottawa Japanese Community Association / Ottawa Japanese Cultural Centre: **

The Ottawa Japanese Community Association (OJCA)/Ottawa Japanese Cultural Centre (OJCC) will be involved in coordinating a number of fundraising events in the near future. The community is hoping to host a concert in April or May and will be seeking the help of the community. Those wishing to host events or activities to support relief efforts are encouraged to contact the OJCA President (Hitomi Suzuta).
Collection boxes for the Japan Earthquake relief will be available at select retailers and events in the Ottawa area next week. Those interested in providing a space for a box should contact Alex Okuda-Rayfuse at 613-237-1243 or Gabe Misaka at 613-897-4969. ** Camellia Teas of Ottawa (various dates) **

** March 31: Fundraiser for Japan on behalf of CCFCC Ottawa **

At the Brookstreet Hotel. Cocktails, Reception and Silent Auction 6:00pm, Dinner 7:00 pm.  Will feature Live and silent auction with many items being donated.  Students from Algonquin will assist in food production as well as service and stewarding. ** April 28: Mambo / Kinki Restaurants Cultural Series Event **

In support and in collaborations with JETTA Ottawa & Japan Exchange Teaching Alumni Association - Ottawa Chapter.    Due to the unfortunate turn of recent events we are dedicating this night to raise money for the-Red Cross Earthquake Relief Efforts in aid of the victims of Japan. ** LBCO collects donations for Red Cross relief in Japan **

The public can help support those whose lives have been devastated by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan by making donations to the Canadian Red Cross Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami Fund at any of the more than 600 LCBO stores throughout Ontario.  March 19: Here For There II - Artists for Japan
**
 At La Petite Mort Gallery, 6:30pm-10:00pm. Local artists have come together in order to raise money for emergency earthquake & tsunami relief in Japan. More than 50 artists will donate work that is affordably priced and will be sold with 100% of sales going to help the tragic situation in Japan.

 March 19: Salsaria Fundraising for Japan
**
 At Preston Hall (Plant Recreation Centre), 8:00pm. $8 includes free salsa workshop (beginner on 2 dancing) at 8 pm, followed by social dance, and a performance by Blackanese Mambo Troup.

**
 11am-3pm on George Street in the Byward Market (behind the Bay Department Store). Bake sale, post card sale, face painting for kids, donations gratefully collected.

** The Red Cross **

 You can support Japanese relief efforts by making a donation to the Ottawa Red Cross. Cheques should be made out to the Canadian Red Cross with a notation: Japan Earthquake. Donations can be made in the following ways:
