MEDIA NEWS: Layoffs at Country 94 / New hires at Ottawa Citizen

There’s been some movement in Ottawa’s media landscape this week, here’s a roundup:

Shakeup at New Country 94 (CKKL-FM)

If you listen to this station, your morning drive is going to be a bit different from now on.

Yup, it’s layoffs time at Bell Media again. Just localized to the specific station this time.

On Monday, morning announcers Ryan Lindsay and Pj Ste Marie were both let go.

According to The Ottawa Citizen, the morning shift is filled by sister station Majic 100’s Sophie Moroz and Country 94 afternoon announcer Matt Di Paola.

Morning announcer Mary Anne Ivison moved from mornings to afternoons.

New hires at The Ottawa Citizen

Refreshing to see hiring happening at a newspaper in this country, or anywhere.

First, Metro senior reporter Joe Lofaro announced he would leave the free daily in favour of the Ottawa Citizen, starting August 29.

And the reaction…

Then, Susana Mas of the CBC announced the same for her…

Cue the congrats…

Congratulations to Joe and Susana!
