Mass confusion after fire alarm evacuates Bayshore Shopping Centre

A day after declaring their property a smoke-free zone, a fire alarm at Bayshore Shopping Centre forced shoppers to evacuate.

Interesting coincidence!

Bayshore did not confirm an actual fire, saying in a Facebook post the cause was “fire-related” (whatever that means.)

So, on a not-very-nice Saturday, shoppers had to evacuate the mall until the problem was resolved.

(Actually Aaron, the smoking ban goes into effect Monday, but semantics.)

Melany was extra-annoyed…

The evacuation caused traffic snarls in the parking lot and on nearby streets.

Shoppers were allowed back in after about 20 minutes.
