The 2012 Ottawa Race Weekend will take place May 26-27, 2012. The Ottawa Race Weekend, Canada's premier running event, combines competition, participation and fundraising to make a distinctive contribution to the health of the community. The Ottawa Marathon and Ottawa 10K are both sanctioned by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF). Last year's event welcomed a record 39,735 participants.
It all started back in 1975, when 146 runners lined up at Carleton
University for Ottawa's first marathon. Today, thousands of runners
take part in several events, including the marathon, half marathon,
10k, family runs, wheelchair races, and more.

Although now known as the "Ottawa Race Weekend" and the "ING Ottawa Marathon", the event has also been known as the "National Capital Maraton".
Did you know: According to Marathonguide.com, the ING Ottawa Marathon had the highest Canadian percentage of Boston qualifying finishers in 2007 with 22.8%. The site, a key reference for marathoning in North America, says that the courses on its 2007 list “will undoubtedly be among those ranked the fastest of all courses”.
