Man charged after cyclist assaulted downtown

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section would like to inform the public that the male cyclist was identified and charged.

Romain HUBNER, 37 years old of Gatineau, turned himself in on Tuesday late afternoon. He is facing one count of Sexual assault.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and an Undertaking. His next court appearance will be September 20, 2016.

_ (Original press release) _ Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male involved in an altercation with another cyclist. The investigation began on August 4, 2016 after the victim reported she had been assaulted while riding her bicycle in the area of Lyon Street near Wellington Avenue at approx. 8:15am.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, possibly Italian, mid to late 30’s, 6’ (183 cm), medium build, with short dirty blond hair, blue eyes. He was wearing beige cargo shorts, black and grey striped T-shirt with black shoes and a bright green and yellow helmet. The suspect was riding a black Canyon mountain bike (see pictures).
