Impacts on Queen Elizabeth Drive and Rideau Canal western pathway due to construction

The City of Ottawa will begin construction next week to rehabilitate Gilmour Street. As part of this construction work, Queen Elizabeth Drive will be reduced to one lane during off-peak hours beginning on February 16 for approximately two weeks. Signage will be in place advising motorists, cyclists and pedestrians of the lane reductions.

The Rideau Canal western pathway will also be temporarily closed between Somerset Street and Waverley Street beginning on February 18 until the end of June. Cyclists and pedestrians are advised to use the following detour: Somerset Street to The Driveway to Waverley Street.

A temporary pedestrian and cyclist crossing will be constructed during the detour and directional signage will be installed on site to advise pathway users of the closure.

This renewal work is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
