Hockey player revived with public defibrillator after suffering cardiac arrest

_ (press release) _ Paramedics responded to a call for a Cardiac Arrest that occurred at Jim Durrell Recreation Centre, 1265 Walkley Road. The Ottawa Paramedic Service Communications Centre received the call at 17:15 hrs today, August 2, 2016.

A 66 year old male was playing hockey and suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. CPR was quickly initiated by teammates and a Public Access Defibrillator was successfully used by a patron of the arena. When paramedics arrived, the patient was awake and talking.

The patient was treated by Advanced Care Paramedics and transported to the Ottawa Hospital General Campus in serious but stable condition.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service applauds the quick action of teammates and patrons of the arena.
