Ottawa Public Health has been promoting and distributing free condoms for decades as part of its sexual health programming.
This programming is part of Ottawa Public Health’s mandate as per the provincial Health Protection and Promotion Act and mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Ontario Public Health Standards.

Every year, we distribute approximately 650,000 condoms with the help of over 100 community partners and an innovative web site called: SexItSmart.ca
While at SexItSmart.ca, click on over to: Get Tested. Why Not? Visitors to that site can get tested for Chlamydia and gonorrhea. It’s quick and easy!
Through this campaign, we hope to:
- Increase condom use
- Decrease the rates of Chlamydia and gonorrhea
- Increase comfort levels
- Decrease risk for HIV/Aids transmission
In 2017, with your help, we’d like to see the number of condom use go UP while the number of STI’s go DOWN.
