Ottawa Fury FC today announced the hiring of Darko Buser who joins the club’s technical team effective immediately. Buser, who holds a UEFA A Licence, has spent the last 12 years working at Chelsea FC, working directly with their academy for the last decade.
“We are thrilled to add Darko to the Ottawa Fury FC coaching staff,” said Fury FC President, John Pugh. “He brings with him over a decade of experience at Chelsea FC and a wealth of coaching knowledge drawn from working with top clubs and coaches around the world”
“We are very happy to add Darko to our technical staff,” said Technical Director Phillip Dos Santos. “Darko will bring a huge amount of knowledge, experience and knowhow to our Club. It was important for us to bring in a quality coach, someone who knows the demands and standard of the high-level game both on and off the field. Darko will be directly involved in the development of our Academy and youth development programs.”
The newest member of the Fury FC coaching staff knows both Marc and Phillip Dos Santos well having previously studied under Marc during his time at the Montreal Impact and twice during the three years Dos Santos coached in Brazil.
Born in Belgrade, Buser developed as a player with FC Red Star Belgrade and played professionally in the former Yugoslavia until moving to the United Kingdom in 1992. He has also worked with the Serbian National Team with international camps and as an opposition scout for the U19 team.
Fluent in English, Serbian, Slovenian, Macedonian, Italian and Russian, Buser will bring his wealth of experience from Chelsea to the Fury FC Academy that is recognized as one of the five professional Academies in Canada by the Canadian Soccer Association.
