The Fifth Annual Rainbow Spring Fling is held to celebrate and embrace equity and diversity among LGBTTIQ students, friends, and allies.

‎Colleen Taylor, OCDSB Specialist High Skills Major Instructional Coach says, “This event demonstrates to students, parents, and staff, that the OCDSB is moving forward with Human Rights initiatives and that it stands behind its mandate of safe, inclusive schools that support and embrace equity and diversity.”

The dance provides a safe space for LGBTTIQ students and straight allies to dance and feel free to be themselves. Over 150 students from 20 schools attended the last dance.

Carol Ann Burrows, Merivale High School Teacher, says, “The Rainbow Spring Fling continues to build upon the OCDSB’s mission to ensure that LGBTTIQ youth feel safe, supported and accepted when dealing with sexual identity, gender identity, relationships and learning." ** ** One of the key objectives of the event is to send the message to OCDSB’s  Rainbow youth that we see you, hear you, accept you, and celebrate you, added Ms. Taylor.

The Spring Fling takes place this Friday, April 17th, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m at Confederation Education Centre, located at 1645 Woodroffe Ave.
