In this sprawling, eccentric Brazilian ‘western,’ the outlaw Lampião and his band are roaming in the backlands of Pernambuco. He is also accompanied by his lover, the mysterious and beautiful Maria Bonita. As they scratch out their living on the run, they are being pursued by the local police, led by Lieutenant Antero Tenente, who sees the capture of the bandit Lampião as a matter of honour. Tenete’s obsession with capturing him will span generations.

In addition to its action-filled plot, TIME FRAME also uses music and landscape in startling ways. Weaving elements of samba and contemporary Brazilian music, director Alceu Valença constructs a vivid flashback of Brazil’s past, and renders a colourful, magical world filled with love, romance, obsession, and song.
