Given Environment Canada’s extreme cold warning and due to public health and safety concerns, please note that, as with the City of Ottawa outdoor programming, artistic programming for the Canada 150 closing events on Parliament Hill for December 30th and 31st has been modified. Please check the Calendar of events for up to date information.
Get your party parkas ready folks; we will be celebrating in open air like true Canadians! As Canada 150 comes to an end, joins us on Parliament Hill and at the Canadian Museum of History on December 31, as we bid farewell to a remarkable year!
From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., people of all ages can gather in a family-friendly setting at the Canadian Museum of History to see Nimidiwin, a free show featuring Indigenous dancing, drumming and singing performances.
Snuggle up to those dear to your heart in a magical winter setting and watch the Christmas Lights Across Canada multimedia show unfold on Parliament Buildings. Also, thanks to the generosity of Tim Hortons, delicious free coffee or hot chocolate will be available for everyone to enjoy!
Oh and guess what? The evening will also include a pyrotechnics and laser show repeated at 9:15 p.m., 10:15 p.m. and midnight. Triple WOW!
Last but not least, the Canada 150 skating rink will be open to the public on December 31 until February 28, 2018, so that residents and visitors alike can enjoy this fun winter sport a while longer on Parliament Hill! Just a friendly reminder that skaters must book their free skate time 48 hours in advance at www.canada150rink.com.
Spread the word: an epic New Year’s Eve party awaits. Be there!
